Overreaction?

President Obama has mandated that there will be no new off-shore drilling until they figure out why an explosion occured on an off-shore oil rig last week. I guess its a good thing they didn't freak the fuck out when there was a plane crash in Buffalo, or else they'd have had to suspend all flights until they figured out why it crashed.

Of course, this could have something to do with the fact that the Obama administration is very anti off-shore drilling....

Let's talk immigration

As I'm sure any of you can guess, I support this new immigration law in Arizona. I think its appropriate, I think it makes sense, and I think its about fucking time we take a stand. Every day, hundreds of illegal immigrants pour across the border into Arizona causing violence, trading drugs, and sucking on our welfare system.

Before anyone tries to accuse me of racism, I'm gonna throw it out there right now, I don't hate Hispanics, I hate pricks who fucking suck our welfare system dry. And that's not racism. That's a tax paying American being sick and tired of douche bags taking advantage of our system.

Our administration is now looking for ways to overturn the new law. In other words, the President of the United States of America is trying to find a way to ALLOW illegal aliens to continue pouring across the border. The one person who is singlehandedly responsible for keeping this country safe, is taking part in the destruction of the country he swore to protect.

Don't blame me, I wanted McCain....

Hypocrisy at its greatest

It has long been a fact that the media covers Conservative/Republican negativities much closer then those of their Liberal/Democratic opponents. It happened when George Bush was in office, it happened during the elections, and it is happening again.

The news has lambasted the Tea Party for the negative actions of a few select members. These members are racist, they are pricks, and more often then not, they are "infiltrators" that have one goal, to destroy the grassroots organization that protests against the government.

Hypocrisy #1 - There are people that infiltrate the Tea Party simply to try and destroy them because they disagree with the Government. These liberals that feel the need to stop conservative free speech, are the same liberals that were calling George Bush a murderer and a Nazi.

But to continue, there is now an immigration law in Arizona that makes it illegal to be an illegal immigrant in Arizona. People are protesting it all over the country. Somehow, this has gone unnoticed by many members of the media. For those members that are covering it, they describe those protesting as revolutionaries.

Hypocrisy #2 - Tea Party protestors are racist and hate filled. Immigration protestors are revolutionaries who are fighting for the common good.

These hypocritical acts of media coverage will continue forever. The media is not going to admit that they are wrong, and they aren't going to provide fair coverage.

Should we, as Americans, accept that?

Modern Family

Just got through watching a bunch of episodes of Modern Family, and I haven't laughed so hard at a 30 minute show since South Park. Modern Family has so many aspects of comedy that even by explaining them, I can't do it justice, but if you've been following me, you know i'm going to try anyway. So here goes:

Modern Family is a comedy series about an extended family. I don't pay attention to names too much so I'm going to give you the family breakdown, but it won't have names because I just can't remember them!

We'll start with the Grandfather. Follow along cuz it'll get confusing. The grandfather has three kids. A son, a daughter, and a step son. The son and daughter are prolly mid 30's age. The step son is about 10. The step-son comes from his marriage to a Columbian hottie who is probably mid 30's as well. His son is gay, and has a partner with whom he just adopted a Vietnamese infant. His daughter is married with three kids. The step son and one of the grandkids are in the same grade, and because of the interesting family arrangement, they are also Uncle/Nephew. The step son also has an innocent pre-pubescent crush on the oldest granddaughter.

Did you follow all that? If not, you're not the first. It's tough. But thats what makes it so funny. Most of the shows have some form of a moral lesson in them, but they come to learn them through the regular happenings of an extended family like this.

Due to the lack of drama(sorry, but its my thing) I am going to give this show a FANTASTICAL rating. It's well worth the time to watch.

TV Show Reviews

While I am fully aware that there are very few people out there that actually read this blog, and even fewer people out there that care about my opinion on TV shows, I am bored tonight, and thought I'd start reviewing some of the shows I watch. Due to my current employment, I find I have a lot of time on my hands, and not many ways to spend it, so I watch a lot of TV Series on DVD. From time to time, I am going to review either the TV series, or movies that I watch, for your reading pleasure.

I am going to cover some of the plot, so if you don't want spoilers, you might not want to read everything I write. In order to grade the shows and movies, I will have a scale. The ratings will be as follows:

Mind-blowingly fucking awesome
Fantastical
Worth the time if you're bored
Kill yourself before watching this
Watching a one legged midget in a porno sucking off donkeys would be better then this.

Today's review is going to be on Sons of Anarchy. For those of you that have never heard of it, Sons of Anarchy, SOA, is a show on FX. The show is based on a motorcycle gang that lives in a town called Charming, CA.

My vote for this is a "Mind-blowingly fucking awesome". This show has it all. Drugs, guns, chicks, fights, and motorcycles. It's like every 40 year old man suffering a mid-life crisis' wet dream. From feuding with the Mayans(A Mexican MC, or Motorcycle Club) to outsmarting the ATF agents that are on the case, SAMCRO(An acronym for Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original) is not afraid to get their hands dirty.

I fully recommend this show for everyone. Although it is very violent(hence the "Mind-blowingly fucking awesome rating) you can also take a few messages from it. Wikipedia has an entry on it that relates it to Shakespeare. Although it appears to be all about the violence and drugs and guns on the surface, the show is very deep if you put some thought into it.

There is the classic father vs. son battle. Will the old ways work forever? Or is it time to change the direction they're headed? Then there is the good vs. evil battle. Do the ends justify the means? Can you really rely on a motorcycle gang to keep the peace in your town? All of these struggles and more are played out on the screen in this very dramatic series.

Missed your favorite show?

From time to time, I find that in my daily schedule, I don't always find time to watch my favorite shows. In the past, I have gone to the network sites, and caught up there, however I have found a new site and figured I would pass it along.

The reviews run a little long, but they are filled with little bits of humor throughout them, making the reading a little bit more interesting.

The site is www.televisionwithoutpity.com

Tax dollars to help those with ED?

So I read something today that absolutely infuriated me, and I wanted to get the word out. I may not have a large following, but I hope that at least one person here takes something from this message, and tells someone else about it, and passes it along. Frankly I think it is bullshit that this is allowed, and it sickens me to think there are people in Congress that are aware of this and are allowing it to continue.

As we all know, we just passed Healthcare Reform in this country. What you may not know is that towards the final stretch of the bill, the Republicans in Congress were trying to stall by raising Amendments to the bill. While some of these were uncalled for, I believe there are at least a few that had merit. One of them is as follows:

S. Amdt. 3556 to H.R 4872

Statement of purpose: To reduce the cost of providing federally funded prescription drugs by eliminating fraudulent payments and prohibiting coverage of Viagra for child molesters and rapists and for drugs intended to induce abortion.

Essentially, this Amendment was designed to prevent tax payer dollars from providing Viagra and other medicines to sex offenders to treat Erectile Dysfunction. In lamens terms, this bills gives hard-on pills to perverts, using tax payer dollars. This Amendment was designed to prevent that. I know what you're thinking; But, that's a no brainer, right? No one in their right mind would vote YES on a bill that potentially allows perverts who rape others to get medication to give them a hard-on and potentially rape again, right?!? As much as I would love to tell you that's true, it is just not the case. The Democrats, instead of voting in the Amendment and closing the door on tax payers funding Viagra for rapists, decided to "table the motion". This means they suspended any arguments on the Amendment. This essentially brushes it under the rug. The following is a list of Senators that voted to "Table the Motion":

Akaka (D-HI)
Baucus (D-MT)
Begich (D-AK)
Bennet (D-CO)
Bingaman (D-NM)
Boxer (D-CA)
Brown (D-OH)
Burris (D-IL)
Byrd (D-WV)
Cantwell (D-WA)
Cardin (D-MD)
Carper (D-DE)
Casey (D-PA)
Conrad (D-ND)
Dodd (D-CT)
Dorgan (D-ND)
Durbin (D-IL)
Feingold (D-WI)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Franken (D-MN)
Gillibrand (D-NY)
Hagan (D-NC)
Harkin (D-IA)
Inouye (D-HI)
Johnson (D-SD)
Kaufman (D-DE)
Kerry (D-MA)
Klobuchar (D-MN)
Kohl (D-WI)
Landrieu (D-LA)
Lautenberg (D-NJ)
Leahy (D-VT)
Levin (D-MI)
Lieberman (ID-CT)
Lincoln (D-AR)
McCaskill (D-MO)
Menendez (D-NJ)
Merkley (D-OR)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Murray (D-WA)
Nelson (D-FL)
Pryor (D-AR)
Reed (D-RI)
Reid (D-NV)
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Sanders (I-VT)
Schumer (D-NY)
Shaheen (D-NH)
Specter (D-PA)
Stabenow (D-MI)
Tester (D-MT)
Udall (D-CO)
Udall (D-NM)
Warner (D-VA)
Webb (D-VA)
Whitehouse (D-RI)
Wyden (D-OR)

I know that I used some rude language in this post, and I hope that it didn't take away from the point. The people above made a conscious decision to allow sex offenders access to prescription pills for E.D using our tax dollars. This is something that shouldn't be taken lightly and I can only hope that there are others out there that are as pissed as I am.

Until next time.....

So what does it all mean

Well, the first game of the baseball season is complete, with the Red Sox squeaking out a comeback victory over the Yankees in Fenway park. So what does it all mean>

Well, first and foremost, baseball is back. Thats always a positive and something to look forward to, so it has to be mentioned.

Secondly, the Yankees still suffer at the middle reliever position. Chan Ho Park lost the game for the Yankees, plain and simple. Until the Yankees secure a decent middle reliever, they will continue to have to make comebacks in the late innings, hope the other team doesn't beat up the middle reliever TOO bad, or lose the game.

Third, the Red Sox still have the power to come back late in the game. The worst part about that is that I watch some of the games, and brag to Fluffy about how the other team is whomping on his team. More often then not, I have to eat my words, and I am NOT a fan of some humble pie.

Finally, the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry is still in full swing. Fluffy and I have gone at it already, and I anticipate many more clashes during the season. When it all boils down, thats what makes this time of year so great.

Is there a difference

So last night, I was talking shit with Fluffy about the baseball game. In short(long version to follow), I was bragging when the Yankees were winning, and he didn't like that. The Yankees lost in the end, and he was happy, and when I used his words back at him, his response was, "There's a difference between talking constant shit and being happy that your team won."

Frankly, I don't think there is a difference, and I'll explain why.

Last night I went to a bar with the family, ordered some food and waited for the game. We talked a little pre-game trash, but not much, and the game started. Top of the 1st, and the Yankees go down in order, 1-2-3. I get a message from Fluffy about 6 seconds after the 3rd batter stating that fact. The Red Sox followed suit, so I sent that message to fluffy as well. After that, the Yankees pretty much led the entire game. They went up two runs in the 2nd, and the game wasn't tied again until the 6th.

Basically, when I started talking crap back to Fluffy in the 2nd inning, he began getting upset and responded with, "It's only game 1-of-162 and you're talking shit, you must be bored."

To sum it up, the Red Sox ended up coming back to win, so I told Fluffy that I was glad it was only game 1-of-162. Which led to his response earlier.

My take on it all, if you can'tTAKE the shit talking, don't DO the shit talking. Yeah, it's only game 1 of the season, but its also the biggest sports rivalry in history. There is no difference between shit talking and being happy that your team won.

I would also like to point out that one of my messages detailed to Fluffy that I enjoy this time of year because we DO get to talk shit to each other.

With all that being said, it was a great game last night. I am disappointed the Yankees blew the lead, but I guess thats life.

Welcome back, Baseball. We've missed you

Today marks the beginning of the 2010 Major League Baseball season. Today begins the Yankees season as defending World Series Champions. And most importantly, today begins the half year or so that will have Fluffy and I throwing jabs across the aisle as we root for our respective teams.

During a little Facebook conversation earlier, Fluffy reminded me that baseball represents what people love about America. Whether you like the Yankees(i.e. you're a good person), the Red Sox(i.e. you hate babies, puppies, flowers, and freedom), or any other team, I implore you to stand up, root for your team, and embrace the competition. Let's all sit down with a cold one and remember why this is considered America's Favorite Pastime.

Whether you are Republican, Democrat, Man, Woman, Christian, Jew, Black, White, Gay, Straight, believe in Healthcare, or think it should stay the same, let's put that all aside and enjoy a great baseball season.

Play Ball!!!!!

P.S. Hopefully reading this will incite Fluffy to start writing again.

Hate Speech

There's been a lot of conversation going on lately about Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder and his funeral, which was protested by the Westboro Baptist Church. The father of this fallen Marine, Al Snyder, sued the church for violating his privacy. He initially won, and was awarded $5 million dollars in damages. The case was later overturned by an appeals court, and the Marine's father was ordered to pay the Church's legal fees.

Let me take a second and explain the church. The Westboro Baptist Church was founded in Topeka, Kansas in 1955. The church currently has approx. 60-70 members, and of those approx. 70 members, 50 of them are children, grandchildren, or in-laws of the leader, Fred Phelps. They travel the country and protest funerals of men and women killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. They have a sign factory on their premises so that they can make their own signs for their protest marches. Sounds like a legit group.....

To begin with, I have read the opinion issued by the Court, and I wholly disagree with it. The court essentially determined that Matthew Snyder's funeral was not a private matter. The court also ruled that the remarks made by the Church weren't flagrant enough to warrant a repeal of their First Amendment Rights.

Just so we're clear on what was said, the church members carried signs that read;

"Thank God for IED's"
"God hates fags"
And various other hate filled propoganda.

What I am confused about is that we have stipulations that protect homosexuals, people of color, and men and women(based on sex) from hate speech, but the courts refuse to stand up and protect the men and women that are prepared to die for this country. These signs they made were hate speech, directed at the people that defend these freedoms, and our courts have failed to defend the families that are affected by this cowardly act.

We, as citizens of America, need to stand up and put an end to these ignorant acts performed by a small group of "religious" fanatics.
